Step into the heart of Victorian England with Lionel Bart’s timeless musical masterpiece, Oliver! This holiday classic, beloved by Gateway audiences since its performances in 1992 and 2001, is back to fill the season with its wonderful music and heartwarming story of love and community. Hold on tight to your handkerchiefs for an eventful evening filled with singing, dancing and the return of a family-favourite musical.
Based on Charles Dickens’ beloved novel Oliver Twist, this Tony and Olivier award-winning show has enchanted audiences for decades and even claimed the Academy Award for Best Picture. Oliver! follows the heart-wrenching journey of an orphan who escapes a bleak workhouse to find camaraderie among Fagin’s gang of young pickpockets. As Oliver is wrongfully accused of theft, he finds an unexpected saviour in the kind-hearted Mr. Brownlow. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sykes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.
The award-winning musical springs to life with some of the most memorable characters and spirited songs, (“Food, Glorious Food,” and “Consider Yourself”), to ever grace the stage.

When little Shizu hides in her Otosan’s suitcase and secretly travels to his most dangerous destination The North, her presence is a big surprise and an even bigger nuisance to her gruff, no-nonsense father. Facing snowy owls, white wolves and grizzly bears in the most remote of locations, Otosan and Shizu must learn to tackle challenges together, eventually learning how to communicate their love. Inspired by co-creator Shizuka Kai’s real-life experience with her father, a wildlife videographer, Otosan is a beautifully told story that uses puppetry, real wildlife projections and an original score to take the audience on an immersive journey.
