The City of Richmond was recently the victim of a cybercrime which impacted its email server, which includes Gateway Theatre emails.
The City of Richmond was also made aware that some members of the public have received unsolicited emails impersonating the City and municipal officials, and is taking the situation very seriously. The City’s security teams are actively working to resolve this situation as quickly as possible.
The RCMP is investigating, and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia has been notified.
