Songs of Summer - Afternoon Event
Songs of Summer
Date: Saturday August 27, 2022
Location: Gateway Grove - On the lawn outside Gateway Theatre (6500 Gilbert Rd)
Following the success of last year’s sold-out performances at Songs of Summer, we are back outdoors and in-person with more melody and cheer. For the afternoon event, we are inviting families to enjoy a live performance and kid-friendly activities. For the evening event, it’s time for the adults to relax, unwind, and enjoy a nice summer concert (perhaps even with an adult beverage in hand).
Afternoon event: 2:00-5:00 PM
Doors open: 1:15 PM
Tickets: $15 (includes performance + all family fun activities)
Ages 4 & under: Free admission (ticket required)
Bring the whole family for an afternoon full of fun in the sun! Recommended for ages 5-10, but all are welcome!
2:00-3:00 PM - LIVE PERFORMANCE
DJ Miss Sparklez and her multi-talented young performer and songwriter friend, Rickie Wang take the stage to perform their favourite jams and songs that will get the whole family on their feet busting out dance moves.
3:00-5:00 PM - THEATRE GAMES | STORY TIME WITH PUPPETS | ART ACTIVITY
After the concert, families can stay outside for interactive games led by Gateway Academy’s Youth Leaders. Kids will have a great time laughing, unleashing their creativity, breaking out of their shells, and connecting with other youths with these engaging theatre games.
Meet the Artist
DJ Miss Sparklez aka Krystal Kiran, is a BC-born and raised singer, dancer, actor, choreographer, teacher, and now DJ! Krystal started her performing career by dancing at the PNE when she was 16 years old and found herself performing on Broadway in New York City just 3 years later! Krystal has performed on some of the biggest stages around the world, but equally if not more than her love for the stage, Krystal LOVES working with kids and making them dance!
