An outdoor concert series presented by KPU on the TD Grove Stage

Location: On the lawn outside Gateway Theatre (6500 Gilbert Rd)

Join us for warm summer nights rich with melody and cheer. Featuring local performing artists, these sunset serenades will reunite you with the joy of live performance. Take a respite among the trees and feel that magical connection to the stage once more. 

Each concert takes place at the Gateway Theatre Grove: a pleasant patch of grass just in front of our venue. Deck out your spot on the lawn however you want! This is a bring-your-own-chair affair.

July 10 – Amanda Sum 

An artist to watch in the worlds of music and theatre, Amanda Sum joins us for a live rendition of her debut album. Featuring contemplative lyrics and soulful harmonies, Amanda’s folk-pop stylings pair perfectly with a summer breeze.

August 14 – Tiana Jung and Jason Sakaki 

Singing together since 2013, Jason and Tiana’s duets are as harmonious as their friendship. Performing classic musical theatre numbers, join the dynamic duo for a lively set sure to get you in the swing of summer. 

September 11 – Steffanie Davis and Krystle Dos Santos 

Performing arts powerhouses Steffanie Davis and Krystle Dos Santos grace our stage for this final concert. Delivering an upbeat set of contemporary funk and soul, the effervescent pair will give the season a joyful send off.

About the Artists

Steffanie is an actor, singer & dancer based in Vancouver and has been performing for 11+ years. As a singer she began her training in vocal jazz and studied at Capilano University in their Musical Theatre program. Select credits include: Someone Like You (Arts Club), Grease (Chemainus Theatre Festival), Go, dog! Go!, Velveteen Rabbit (Carousel) and Best Laid Plans (PSP). For Gateway: Sound Of Music (2011) and her first theatre experience ever was in their 1999 production of Wizard Of Oz as a munchkin. Steffanie grew up in Richmond and has very fond memories of Gateway both as an artist and audience member. The arts are so crucial to our community, please keep supporting them!

Krystle Dos Santos (she, her, hers)

Krystle is a singer/songwriter/performer with over a decade of experience as a solo artist and in theatre and film. Krystle is a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts and is a multi-award-winning artist with 3 original albums under her belt. Krystle has performed in the ArtsClub’s Dreamgirls and The Chelsea Hotel at Firehall Arts Centre. She is also the co-creator of a new Cabaret Musical called Hey Viola! about Canadian Civil rights icon Viola Desmond. Krystle values community and collaboration and is so excited to perform to a live audience again.

Tiana is a singer, dancer, actor, voice actor and puppeteer with training/performance experience in Vancouver and Manhattan (NYU Tisch School of the Arts, New Studio on Broadway, BFA 2020). At NYU, she performed in projects led by notable creative teams including associate directors and choreographers from Broadway’s BeetlejuiceHamilton, and The Little Mermaid. Vancouver companies include Vancouver Opera, Gateway Theatre (TOPSY, The King & I), Theatre Under the Stars, Too Fly Productions, and Awkward Stage Productions. Tiana is five feet filled to the brim with love, song, and the desire for equality.

Jason Sakaki is a Vancouver theatre artist who has been on stages since the age of thirteen. Recent theatre credits include: The Matchmaker, The Sound of Music, Night Passing (Arts Club) Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare in Love (Bard on the Beach) and Misadventure at the Lighthouse (Green Thumb Theatre). Jason is a proud Asian-Canadian creator, and would like to thank Gateway for all their support throughout the years.

Amanda Sum is a performing artist who dances between theatre and music. She holds a BFA from Simon Fraser University from the theatre department. Her first theatre show was The King and I at Gateway in 2003, when she was 6 years old. Recent credits include 2 seasons of the East Van Panto (Theatre Replacement), Chicken Girl (rice&beans), The Wolves (With A Spoon/Rumble/Pacific), Her debut indie-pop singles were released in the last year. Amanda strives to champion other under-represented artists, and loves to wear matching outfits.
