Produced by Alberta Theatre Projects
Based on Lewis Carroll’s books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass

April 7-16, 2022
Performed for a live audience on the MainStage, with physically distanced seats
Presented in English with Traditional and Simplified Chinese surtitles

Don’t be late for the Mad Hatter’s tea party! Follow Alice through the rabbit hole and discover a world that’s ‘curiouser and curiouser’. To close our 2021-2022 season, we are delighting audiences with the BC premiere of In Wonderland. In this imaginative and contemporary retelling of Lewis Carroll’s classic novels, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, three actors fantastically portray the story’s iconic characters, transforming right before your eyes. You will be swept away by theatre magic, as the stage spectacularly metamorphosizes into a stunning visual realm. Revisit these timeless stories in a newly imagined way and be guided through a journey of self-discovery, as Alice reflects upon questions like “Who am I?” and “Where do I really want to be?”

"In Wonderland, is both wonderful and wondrous." – Calgary Herald

"A mesmerizing production and a complete joy to watch." – Jenna Shummoogum, Theatre Critic

Run time: 1 hour 40 minutes, plus 15-min intermission
Suitable for all ages - recommended for ages 6 and up.

How We Are Keeping You Safe
We acknowledge that everyone has different comfort levels when heading back into the theatre. Although the Province of BC has declared there are no capacity limits for indoor events as of February 16, 2022, we will still run all performances with a reduced audience capacity and physically distanced seats. This will mean that seats immediately in front of, behind, and on either side of you will be kept clear.

When we first engaged the artists and went on sale for In Wonderland, there was an understanding that proof of vaccinations will be required upon entry throughout the entire run of the show. We would like to keep this promise and respect the safety and comfort levels of all the artists, patrons, staff, and volunteers
. As such, although the requirement for proof of vaccination was lifted on April 8, 2022, we will still also be requiring patrons aged 18 and over will be required to show proof of full vaccination with a valid photo ID. Children ages 12-17 must show proof of vaccination but not ID.

Here are some of the safety measures that remain in place:

  • Masks are recommended for all attendees of In Wonderland, but are optional.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be readily available throughout the experience and ask patrons to exercise good hand hygiene.
  • Patrons are strongly encouraged to be respectful of the personal space and comfort of the people around them while moving through this event.
  • If you have purchased tickets to In Wonderland but are no longer able to attend due to illness you will be issued a full refund, provided you contact us no less than two hours prior to your timeslot.

For our detailed COVID-19 health and safety protocols, please read here.

Show Times & Tickets:
Adult & Child (Ages 18 and under) tickets available from $29

Audience Considerations:

  • This performance contains the use of strobe lighting and haze effects.
  • At certain points in the performance, the actors will be in front of the stage on the audience level; they will also enter and exit the auditorium via the audience aisles. The actors will be as distant from the audience as possible and will not be facing the audience when engaging in dialogue. The actors will be unmasked but are fully vaccinated. We recommend not selecting the front row seats if you are not comfortable with this.
